Testimony From an Amish Craftsman

We get a lot of questions about the Amish woodworkers who produce the one-of-a-kind furniture at our store.  For some, the only exposure to Amish life comes from Amish Mafia or Breaking Amish; needless to say, reality TV rarely dishes up a dose of, well, reality.

So we thought we’d introduce you to some of the amazing artisans who craft the handmade-furniture pieces at Amish Originals.

Meet Robert.  He, along with a handful of dedicated employees, builds the majority of our kitchen and dining room tables.

He shares, “I know people wonder why and how we choose to live and work this way.  The simple answer would be that we were taught to, but there is really so much more to our way of life. It is incredibly rewarding to own a home-based, small business.  It means that I am never far from a window and I never miss the soul lifting pleasures of the first snow or of watching my wife and children plant our organic garden.”

“My spirits lift as I create beautiful furniture surrounded by nature and peace.  I can’t imagine anyone’s mood is improved by sitting in front of a computer screen all day.”

“I make one table at a time, knowing that every piece of furniture I craft is as close to perfect as possible.  And, I rest easy knowing that my tables will be handed down from generation to generation.”

Robert is just one of more than 70 craftsmen that work with Amish Originals.  Each one is an individual, but they are all artists of the highest caliber.

If you’d like to meet Robert and some of our other fine artisans, plan to join us March 15-17 at the Grand Opening of our new location at 38 North State Street in Uptown Westerville.

From our home to yours,
