Did you know…? Answers to AOFC’s most commonly asked questions!

In the heart of Uptown Westerville, Ohio, with a sprawling showroom right on the main drag, Amish Originals is always bustling with browsing customers. Our helpful staff and friendly sales people love meeting with people, showing them around and answering their questions.  Many of our sales staff have been a part of the Amish Originals family for years and consequently, they’ve heard a lot of different questions.  When we asked them to share their most frequently asked questions, here’s what they told us. And the answers!

Q: Is all of your furniture really Amish made?

A: Yes! Currently, we work with over 80 different Amish crafters, many specializing in different pieces.

Q: Where do they get all the lumber?

A: All of our lumber is harvested through sustainable forestry and most of the wood we use for our furniture is from right here in Ohio.

Q: If I see something I like somewhere, can you make it for me?

A: Usually, yes. If it’s made of real wood, often we can find a crafter who will make it for you if you bring in a picture.

Q: Can I add a leaf to an existing table that I purchased from Amish Originals?

A: Yes! As long as there is at least a 14″ open space when you open your table, then extra leaves can be ordered.

Q: Is the finish durable? How can I clean it?

A: All of our furniture has a catalyzed finish which is moisture and heat resistant. It is VERY durable and, when properly cared for, ages extremely well. We suggest using Guardsman Polish, which we sell at the store. Avoid any polish that has silicone in it and no “Pledge.” For everyday cleaning, use a wet cloth or a microfiber cloth. We like to say our furniture is heirloom furniture. Well worth the investment because it will last for decades!
