Amish Craftsmanship Meets Mid-Century Modern Style

One of the biggest challenges that we face as a store is the perception that Amish-crafted furniture is all traditionally styled.  You know— the chunky, light oak-toned pieces that you might have found in your parent’s or grandparent’s home.  Many times, this perception will keep customers from ever entering our store; they have a modern, contemporary home, and think that Amish built furniture simply wouldn’t suit.

The reality? Our Amish artisans are far from limited in their designs and abilities.

Some of the newest pieces we have in the store are from the studio of Ron Corl [link to RonCorlDesign.com], a Millersburg, Ohio-based, British designer who is merging modern, Mid-Century design with traditional Amish craftsmanship.  Each piece is built by hand and completely customizable.

Corl’s Mid Mod Collection is styled with clean, simple designs with a bit of added flair to make each piece a standout in your home.  Next time you’re in Uptown, pop in the store and take a look at Corl’s Dragonfly Martini Bar, which boasts solid-Cherry construction and accents of Leopard Wood and Curly Maple.  It is an amazingly unique piece and it’s only one of many at Amish Originals that are perfectly suited for today’s contemporary home.

There will always be people who are interested in traditionally styled furniture and we certainly can meet those needs.  But moving into the new store has given us the opportunity to showcase our “modern” side, with the bright, inviting open space that 38 North State Street has become.

Looking for clean, current lines and unparalleled craftsmanship for your next furniture purchase?  Come see our designs or bring your own—either way, we think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

From Our Home to Yours,

Amish Originals
